The letter is dying.
While going through the remnants of a not so long ago childhood, I happened upon a box of letters, you know, the hand-written kind. Love notes from my first boyfriend, long epithets from my best friend, containing her laments of being a post-pubescent teenager in an arts high school. But no one writes letters anymore, just emails and text messages. And while the invention of the email has been a godsend to people like me with appalling handwriting (Gabriel Garcia Marques talks about this in Living to tell the Tale) I still miss the hand written note. Text messages are often short and hurried, and emails often feel so impersonal. So I've decided to come up with more note cards for my etsy shop. And who knows, maybe I will single handily bring the handwritten letter back.

it's worth a try dana!
Dana - I still send handwritten notes in little cards or sometimes a long letter. Even though the cost of postage continues to go up there are many older, lonely people who look forward to receiving a piece of mail. It so brightens their hearts!
oh man, I really do miss those handwritten notes! Me and my girlfriends passing them inbetween classes so that we could have reading material for the upcoming "borefest" class.
oh, the memories!
BRING THEM BACK GIRL!
Bring them back!!
How funny, I was just thinking about this a short while ago. I love handwritten letters, and that encouraged me to create my own stationery so I could go back to handwriting letters again!! Great idea you've had!!
great idea dana...i'm an avid letter writer. i'll be checking you out.
It is sad that we have gotten away from writing notes, and often when we give cards now the message is pre-printed and we don't take the time to personalize. I have really tried to make it a point to make cards for occasions and write even a few lines of heartfelt thoughts in them. I know I feel special when I get a card in the mail!
I love love letters.
